Digitalmente connessi
Fisicamente fermi ma digitalmente connessi. Insieme alla galleria d’arte Cellar Contemporary di Trento abbiamo iniziato la settimana con questa idea. Così ieri ho preso possesso del profilo instagram della galleria per portarvi nella mia quotidianità attraverso i momenti e i luoghi della casa in cui abito e lavoro.
Il progetto è intitolato Art Wor(L)d, e si presenta come una serie di stories di instagram presentate sul profilo della galleria Cellar Contemporary, in cui gli artisti sono invitati a far vedere la loro giornata tipo durante questo periodo di quarantena.
In the studio
Le dirette Facebook “Dentro l’atelier” hanno riscosso molto successo, specialmente all’inizio. Non vi nascondo che ho fatto più fatica a dipingere dovendo pensare ai messaggi, alla linea internet altalenante, alla luce e l’inquadratura giusta. Così per cambiare ho deciso di provare una diretta instagram questa domenica. Il format è lo stesso solo che questa volta dipingerò uno dei miei soggetti su carta.

Illustrazioni!
Affronto l’illustrazione in maniera diversa dalla pittura. Mi piace usare strumenti digitali quando ho molte idee in mente, questo mi permette di realizzarle tutte (o quasi) in un unico momento, soprattutto ovunque anche su un comodo divano.
L’illustrazione è una forma di comunicazione più diretta dell’opera d’arte, per lo meno io la pratico in questo modo. Attraverso le forme e i colori riesco a veicolare dei messaggi che parlano di politica, ecologia, femminismi e vita in generale.

Stendere i panni è diventata un compito essenziale, lo facciamo con precisione militare, come se fosse una missione ordinata da un comando superiore. Oggi bisogna stendere i panni, non c’è altro modo per poter andare avanti, come facciamo ad andare avanti senza farlo, i panni SI DEVONO ASCIUGARE (motivo imprescindibile)!”

Physically still digitally connected. Cellar Contemporary and I started the week with this idea, that’s why yesterday I took posses of the galley’s profile and started publishing stories about my daily life and work projects during quarantine. The project is called Art Wor(L)d and it’s a new ongoing series in which artists are invited to provide through the gallery online channels their own daily insight during the lockdown times. The artist words take us on a journey in their inner world made of thought, inspirations, creative process and practice.
In the studio
Live paintings on Facebook have been very successful, especially at the beginning. I can’t deny that it has been quite strenuous to paint, thinking about comments, internet wifi not working, right lights and framing: it’s a lot of work!
I thought to change the platform and use Instagram lives instead of Facebook’s. This sunday 26th of April 3-4 pm I’ll go live from my studio! I’ll paint one of my subjects on paper this time.
Illustration
During this quarantine I had more time to focus on illustration, which I consider different from my art projects. When I do illustration I mainly use digital painting and usually the process is pretty fast. I’ve an image in my mind and I need to catch it before it goes away. My illustrations are like messages, they talk about everyday life, politics, ecology and more. People usually find hidden meaning that I didn’t even consider.
Meanwhile outside the studio
Hanging clothes became one of the main tasks we need to do, and we do it with military precision, it’s like a mission ordered from high commanders. That’s because it became a reason to step outside and do something that needs to be done: let clothes to dry.
