The animation is inspired by the trailer of Sofia Coppola’s movie Marie Antoniette 2006. It is composed by 350 drawings made on photoshop using a wacom tablet. Each layer was then put together in Adobe After Effect. The project was inspired by my teacher Gianluigi Toccafondo, an Italian animator and movie director.
The color palette is bright and vibrant, to recall the frenzy rhythm of the sequence. The use of neon color clashes with the elegance and Gallicism of the XVIII century. The desecrating intent of the movie director reflects on the vibrant trembling strokes used to draw each drawing. The final outcome is a splash of colours, a flash of shades that recalls 80s and 90s vibes.
