An illustrated story on wall
Creating a bridge between two visions
For this exhibition I illustrated a tale my grandmother used to tell me before going to sleep, The tale of the three oranges. I found out that it's quite an old Italian story written by Giambattista Basile and then turned into an opera by Prokofiev's The Love for Three Oranges.
On the bodies of these pictures the story unravels, the viewer is invited to search for clues to the story.
From Sonde Croniche's universe
Surreal adventures
The series of ex-votos takes inspiration from the Christian ex-voto tradition, which consisted of small painted panels illustrating situations of difficulty (such as illnesses, accidents, betrayals, etc.) or used as a form of gratitude for received blessings.
Sonde Croniche's ex-votos transpose religious iconography into a comical-surreal plane: hair turning into nests for birds, alien-woman skating on a road of skulls, uteri shaped like animal skulls, sacred hearts, and third eyes. These ex-votos remain within an imaginary reality and adhere to the physical and social laws that govern the universe of Sonde Croniche.
